Poetry Shelf Monday poem: Mere Taito’s ‘Reception Frame’

Reception frame

the goose waddles

down the cobbled

sidewalk that leads

to the bath with

glass wings

it washes its pigeon

English and swallows

its honk to cluck like

a creole chicken

only the goose God

understands this

the rest of us

be silent.

stop gawking.

wait patiently.

light a warm fire

when the goose

is done
