Poetry Shelf Welcomes Spring

Spring

the sky is open for interpretation
light when you wake
light when you see a single daffodil

there’s a curious river
between crisp air and new asparagus
it’s a kitchen carpet of day dream

the blue sky is a safety hatch
we are tuning into rhyme
we are walking into rhythm

this poem doesn’t have
a political bone in its body
but it has a hope placard

Kia ora anō a Paula. Ngā mihi mahana ki a koe mai i Mānira, PiripÄ«ni. Greetings from Philippines taku hoa. Thank you for your fine new poem Spring on NZ Poetry Shelf. It is great to see you writing new and positive material. It inspired me to respond regarding the (incessant) inclement weather over here for the last month or so – it is the rainy season here, after all. I attach a poem for you to have a look at – it is not so positive, but is a genuine reflection as to how weather, temperature, season, and clime does affect us in different ways, eh. Tēnā koe.
